Thermos replacement in Pointe-Claire

Pointe-Claire stretches north from the shore of Lake Saint-Louis and is crossed by highways 20 and 40. By the water, the Village and Lakeshore Road keep older character homes near the windmill and Saint-Joachim Church. Elsewhere, in areas like Valois, Cedar Park and Lakeside, suburban bungalows, split-levels and cottages dominate, with large living-room windows and patio doors onto the yard.

Lakefront homes take the wind off the water and bright light reflected from the lake. Large picture windows facing the lake put more strain on their seals, and eventually fog clouds the view. We replace the unit with tempered glass for large panes and patio doors, Low-E to limit solar heat and, where the frame allows it, triple glazing for the rooms most exposed to the wind.

Near the Village, streets are narrower and parking is tighter than in the suburbs, so keep a spot free in the driveway. For a picture window facing the water, access is often through the backyard; clear the path and any patio furniture. If you're replacing several lake-facing units, doing them all at once gives you a uniform view. Appointments are available Monday to Saturday.
